Your First Appointment Your first visit will last an hour or more, depending on the injury. You will be asked many questions relating to your injury by the Physiotherapist. How did the injury start? What makes the pain worse/better? How do you sit/stand/sleep? How do you use your body at work/home/play etc.. This will help to determine the cause of injury. Many people do not even know what is causing their pain and this knowledge can help to prevent future injury and pain. You will then undergo thorough objective testing where we will look for stiffness, weakness, movements that cause pain and specific tests for certain conditions to find an accurate diagnosis. When this is found we will discuss preventive factors, how to avoid this injury from happening in the future.and how to maintain your body in good shape by yourself. Only chronic conditions or neurological conditions require long term treatment. After the initial evaluation, you will receive your first treatment.
Each Treatment In our clinic we pride ourselves on spending a long time with each patient. Most of our patients are motivated to get better fast, so we use many kinds of treatment on each visit. Each visit, as a result, can last from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the injury. At first where the patient is in pain we treat the condition through manual therapy and electrical modalities to reduce inflammation and pain. The modalities we can provide in our clinic include:

Ultrasoundmodalities
Combination of Ultrasound with Diodynamic current
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)
EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation)
Sonodynator with Suction
Electro-Acuscope (computer controled microcurrent)
Acupuncture
Electrically stimulated Acupuncture
Acuhealth (electronic acupuncture without needles)
Electro-Myopulse
Iontophoresis
Cervicle Traction
Lumbar Traction
Hot Parafin wax
Low energy infrared LASER
Moist heat
Ice

When pain and inflamation have been reduced, we introduce specific exercises. We are  proud to provide Acupuncture as a complement to Physiotherapy. Acupuncture can decrease pain and enhance healing and is included with no additional fee. All modalities and treatments will be carefully explained to you and you always have the right to refuse treatments you are uncomfortable with. (Although all our needles are disposable, some patients are uncomfortable with needles in general. In these cases we can use electrical stimulation of acupuncture points without piercing the skin.). Every patient is provided with education and educational brochures regarding their specific needs.
